Looking after your tyres.

Your tyres are a very important part of your mobility scooter.

Things you should do to ensure that you get the best from your mobility scooter tyres.

  1. Ensure that your tyres are inflated to the correct pressure, you will find details in your scooter hand book. If you don’t have the manual, contact the manufacturer and they will give you the information.
  2. Never over inflate your tyres and equally, never leave them under inflated, both will cause damage to your tyres and reduce their life span.
  3. You should check the tyre tread every few months for any signs of wear and tear.
  4. Tyres should be replaced every 2 to 3 years or if they have significant damage.

What should you do if you get a puncture?

  1. Do not ride your scooter until the tyre has been fixed or replaced.
  2. It is handy to carry a tyre puncture sealant in case of emergency. We recommend Holt’s Tyre Weld as it won’t damage your tyre and you can use your scooter again within minutes. When you take your mobility scooter to be repaired, the sealant can be washed away and the puncture repaired. Large lacerations may not be fixed, so a new tyre may be needed.
